Friendly Room 2 Eruptions

Good afternoon,

Today for R.E. we discussed how to be a good friend.

Then, very briefly, we discussed how that if God hadn't designed the tectonic plates to allow the planet's internal pressure to escape every now and then through volcanic eruptions the earth would, well...explode!

So...

...that's how it works!

Enjoy the sunshine,

Mr Grant

Monday's Monday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon we, well...

Subsequent from that we also began some volcano art...

...to further our understanding as to how the Maori tried to explain landforms, their locations and, well, volcanoes.

We will continue with this over the week.

Writing Wednesday

Good evening,

Today was all about the written word.

First with a narrative writing sample...

Narrative Writing Sample Sheet

(they were all so very focused on the task at hand! Excellent stuff!)

...and some reading...

...and more writing.

And a good time was had by all!

Oh, and we did have a very brief discussion about volcanoes, and I noticed this great view of the Lyttleton volcano/crater as we were about to shoot off to find Nazareth!

Mr Grant

Oh yes, and fitness gear all day tomorrow - we're off to the Art Box!

No Photos Monday

Good afternoon,

I forgot to get the camera out today, however, at the expense of my phone's battery later in the day, I have got evidence of some of the writing...

...and, thanks to an iPad, reading...

...that was undertaken here in Room 2 today.

We also had the very briefest of discussions about active volcanoes in New Zealand.

I found this just as the children were packing up at the end of the day...

I'll try harder tomorrow!

Land Search Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon, as part of our Topic lesson, we were looking (very briefly) at landforms - essentially lumps and bumps on the surface of the planet.

So, we tried to find some...

...with varying degrees of success.

Earlier in the day, during reading...

...Kahurangi reading group read The Boo-Dee-Roo to us.

And a good time was had by all.

Have a nice night, now that it's cooler,

Mr Grant

Few Photos Monday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon Room 2 watched this power point slide show, and then discussed the differences and similarities between the Solomon Islands and New Zealand.

We then, very briefly, kicked off our new Topic topic. Our Restless Earth.

We'll be carrying on with this for the rest of the term. Good stuff.

Bye for now,

Mr Grant
