Bouncy Friday

Good afternoon,

Well, if that was summer, we've had it!

This morning we practiced our poetry miter.



We also continued out class book Brave Mama Puss, and then practiced our cartoon skills...




So...the story so far...




As the southerly came in a little earlier than expected, Room 2 ate lunch inside...





...while watching Sponge Bob Square Pants!

And a good time was had by all.

Art Box Thursday

Good afternoon,

Writing Wednesday

Good evening,

Today was all about the written word.

First with a narrative writing sample...




(they were all so very focused on the task at hand! Excellent stuff!)

...and some reading...



...and more writing.


And a good time was had by all!



Oh, and we did have a very brief discussion about volcanoes, and I noticed this great view of the Lyttleton volcano/crater as we were about to shoot off to find Nazareth!

Oh yes, and fitness gear all day tomorrow - we're off to the Art Box!

Tuesday's Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Not too much to report really. We did some maths...





...a spot of writing...


(by the way, I've started up writing groups - just based on where the children are sitting really - and the whole class has been working beautifully!)

...as well as singing...


...and P.E. Of which I got no photos. Never mind...

All in all...a good time was had by all!

No Photos Monday

Good afternoon,

I forgot to get the camera out today, however, at the expense of my phone's battery later in the day, I have got evidence of some of the writing...


...and, thanks to an iPad, reading...


...that was undertaken here in Room 2 today.

We also had the very briefest of discussions about active volcanoes in New Zealand.


I found this just as the children were packing up at the end of the day...

Friday's Challenge

Oh well played Room 7. Well played indeed...


This morning Room 7 threw down a challenge to Rooms 2 and 6 to, well, see if we could do better. Please watch this space!

Earlier in the day, Room 2 had a lovely Mass, then made our way back...


...for Father to join us to talk about Lent.


He was very impressed with Room 2's understanding.

After morning tea we continued our class novel. Brave Mama Puss. Which we then used as inspiration for Art. WALT draw cartoons to tell stories. This is Chapter 3.

Thoughtful Thursday

Good afternoon,

And a lovely afternoon it is too.

This morning kicked off with an invite from Room 6 to join them for prayers.


The thinking continued as the children evaluated their own work against the five focuses we have for writing at the moment.



The afternoon also contained some food for thought, through the activity of drawing a Solomon Islands fishing boat.




Best I rush off to this afternoon's Commissioning Mass...oh, and speaking of Mass, please remember to dress your children in their full uniform tomorrow morning, as we too are off to Mass in the morning. Please join us. Mass starts in the hall at 9:15.

Land Search Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon, as part of our Topic lesson, we were looking (very briefly) at landforms - essentially lumps and bumps on the surface of the planet.

So, we tried to find some...




...with varying degrees of success.


Earlier in the day, during reading...


...Kahurangi reading group read The Boo-Dee-Roo to us.


And a good time was had by all.

Man, it was hot today!

So hot, Mrs Earl let us use Room 3 and it's air con for the afternoon, for writing...
