Work-and-play Wednesday

Good afternoon,

And a lovely afternoon it is too.

This morning, for the first time, we had two plays performed for us. First Don't Hurt Me! by Kahurangi Reading Group...

...and Ma.

Some lovely vocalisation there!

Oh, and for 100 House Points...

Video Monday

Good afternoon,

Bit of a video feast type of post this afternoon.

First with some poetry...

...then some reading...

(including this...

...which is pretty jolly clever stuff! You only have those letters at the bottom to make as many words as possible.)

...and ending in a bit of R.E. recital. Sort of.

Have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

Yet Another Tuesday

Though there won't be that many more for the term...or our school year...

Good afternoon,

Not a whole lot to report this fine afternoon.

Room 2 went swimming...

...then, for R.E., we were identifying which fruit of the Holy Spirit St Francis and St Maximilian showed, and how.

After lunch, the Rutherford team all came together for a bit of a sing-a-long. Including this...

(There is something to be said for having a dedicated device to capture images - my Android takes a wee few seconds to get the camera cranking...)

And a good time was had by all!

Have a lovely evening,

Mr Grant

Show Day Thursday

Good afternoon,

Seeing as it's Show Day tomorrow, today happened to be the end of Week 5.

We trotted off to swimming...

...came back for a touch of R.E....

(this is the story of St Maximilian Kolbe. Click here for more details.)

...and, after lunch, some reading. With a little help from a friend.

Well done!

Have a great long weekend, the last for the year,

Mr Grant

Join the Dots Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after a bit of fitness...

...we had a bit of a performing kind of morning for reading. First with Parakaraka...

...then Kahurangi...

:-)

Then after lunch, we discussed the lineage of Mary, as laid out in the Gospel of Luke.

Tomorrow morning I'm out of the room taking the choir to practice for tomorrow night's performance. Mrs Macdonald will be in the room. Back after lunch.

Oh, and please remember your silver and copper coins for tomorrow afternoon's mini fair - 2:30 to 3:30.

Hot Seat Monday

Good afternoon,

This afternoon, after discussing...

...and practicing being in character as Winnie the Pooh...

...we started a wee exercise called Hot Seating...

...where a volunteer sits on the hot seat, pretending to be the character in question (Pooh Bear), and answers questions in character.

We will continue with this on Wednesday.

Speaking of continuing stuff next time, just prior to the above, we started talking about The Feast of All Saints by first defining the word saint.

From that we were able to redefine the name of the feast in our own language.

Again, more of that later.

In the meantime...have a lovely evening.

Wednesday Prayers

Good afternoon,

Seeing as October is the month of the Rosary, we brushed up on the prayers associated therewith. As the children are already fluent with the Our Father Prayer, we concentrated on the other two.

Speaking of videos...sortof...Ma reading group also shared a poem from their School Journals. Dad's Switched on the Dryer

And a good time was had by all!

Speaking of having a good time, one and all, tomorrow is our OLA Athletics Day on the Hilmorton High School field. The children are walking down with their school bags first thing in the morning, containing...

  • Their water bottles
  • Their morning tea
  • Their lunch
  • Their jacket (if there's a beasterly easterly)
  • Some sunscreen
  • And a whole lot of patience...

They will also need to be wearing their sun hats all day.

The schedule is as follows.

A pdf copy can be found in the Newsletters section on our Room 2 page on the OLA site.

At least we'll be bussing back to school once it's all over!

Hope to see you down there at some point.

Mr Grant

And this just in...

Welcome Back Monday

Good afternoon,

And welcome back for Term 4. In 10 weeks, it'll all be over!

This afternoon for R.E. we started looking at the Rosary prayers for R.E.

After a bit of formative assessment...

...it looks like we'll have to work on the Hail Mary and the Glory Be.

We also started a new topic topic, looking at, and imagining ourselves in, the worlds of Enid Blyton.

We popped outside for a bit of Winnie the Pooh in the shade of the trees...

...when, low and behold, Lady came for a visit.

Awww!

Lightsaber Wednesday

Good afternoon,

Well, we finished the day as it had begun. With lightsabers!

We will be putting on a quick demonstration of Friday at 11am. Please join us.

Although we did do some reading...

...including a story about Paper Planes, and a spot of R.E....

...in preparation for a post test tomorrow on our Church unit.

See you tomorrow,

Mr Grant
