The Gift that Keeps On Giving!

Good evening,

I'm just back from Comics, and Tim has agreed to provide all of these...
  1. a Scum and Villiany starter pack (when they're out)
  2. a Firespray (when they're back in stock)
  3. a Z-95 Headhunter (when they're back in stock)
  4. a couple of M3-A Interceptors (when they're out)
  5. a Tie Phantom (when they're back in stock)
  6. a Rebel Aces pack (at least that's in stock!)
  7. and another Tie fighter
...for the price of the voucher - a saving of...well, about $10, but hey!

Sweet!

Better still, I can get some now...

...some in February (the restocks of the Headhunter, Firespray and Phantom) and April - the Scum and Villiany starter and the M3s.

So this truly is the gift that keeps on giving!!

Thanks once again,

Mr Grant

Fun Day Tuesday

Good afternoon,

And thank you thank you thank you for your most generous gift!

I'm planning to get...
  1. a Scum and Villany starter pack (when they're out)
  2. a Firespray (when they're back in stock)
  3. a Z-95 Headhunter (when they're back in stock)
  4. a couple of M3-A Interceptors (when they're out)
  5. a Tie Phantom (when they're back in stock)
  6. a Rebel Aces pack (at least that's in stock!)
  7. and another Tie fighter
...prices to be negotiated with Tim, the owner of Comics!

Then we started the day proper. Of which I only got these shots...

...as I was kind of busy. Getting water blasted, for one thing. That reminds me, I must take my soaking clothes home. I hope they haven't blown away in the breeze.

The afternoon was spent with a bit more of The Magic Faraway Tree, and TRUMP time. And a good time was had by all. Especially the water fight!

Thanks again,

And see you one last time...for the year...tomorrow.

Mr Grant

Last Day Monday

Well, it was the last day the whole school was together for 2014 anyway...

Good afternoon,

This morning was taken up with a long walk down to Cashmere...

...a long walk back to school...

...and quite a bit of waiting in between. At least we had a fire alarm to keep things lively.

This afternoon the children exercised the Key Competencies in a variety of different ways as they saw fit.

Please be at the Cashmere High School Auditorium at 6 so we can get the children sorted for a 6:30 start this evening.

Last Maths Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning Room 2 had their last Maths session for the year.

Ok, to be fair, there wasn't a lot of specific instruction going on, but there was some tactical thinking and numeracy practice going on in amongst the children's chosen activities.

Speaking of alliteration, we did do some writing - the start of a recount of a favourite time in Room 2.

We'll finish that...next Wednesday morning, before Mass. Might fit in some handwriting then too.

We also squeezed in some new learning before popping into the library after morning tea, adding a "thoughts aloud" component to our freeze frames of scenes from the Magic Faraway Tree.

As for tomorrow, well, it's dress-up-as-your-favourite-character-or-come-in-mufti-so-long-as-you-bring-a-gold-coin-donation-for-Jose day tomorrow.

Does anyone have an old brown sleeveless vest that I could borrow for tomorrow? If so, please bring it along in the morning.

Thanks,

Mr Grant

Late Post Wednesday

Good morning,

Sorry for the late post.

Yesterday Room 2 learnt to perform freeze framed scenes from The Magic Far Away Tree.

I was really impressed how they were able to pick up the concept, organise themselves and make great snapshots from the book. Today we'll try them again, with the added dimension of "Thoughts Aloud".

In the afternoon Room 3 came over to make Christmas Cards...

...with the very-much-appreciated-help from a few parents and a bunch of Year 5/6s from Room 5.

Thanks Catherine, Jo and Miss Coad!

Mr Grant

Oh, and this just in...

Hi

Last week Ashton took home an unnamed new jersey that is 77cm Kairanga brand. We have no idea where it came from, if you know anyone who has lost a jersey please come and see me!

Crepe Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning, during maths...

...while Room 2 were cutting and pasting these images to create an undersea scene that demonstrated their understanding of translation, reflection and rotation, some lovely Year 7's dropped off some of what they have been learning in Room 7 of the French language and culture.

And a tasty time was had by me!

Mr Grant

Oh, and there is no dress up Friday tomorrow - that's next week.

Rotation Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This morning for Maths we discussed rotation as part of our Geometry unit.

The follow up activity was for the children to keep track of the propeller blades as they rotated by colouring them differently.

After morning tea we had a little reading, where Kakariki Reading Group did an information web concerning their text for this morning, Railway Dog...

...while Kahurangi went outside to create a Pic Collage story board of their book Awumpaluma...

...and Ma created information webs about an article in their School Journals entitled Nadia Paints Her Face.

Speaking of independent reading activities...

:-)

Speaking of Star Wars characters, our OLA-Dress-Up-As-Your-Favourite-Fictional-Character-Day is not this week as I put in the weekly newsletter, but the following (Week 9). Sorry about that.
