Last Maths Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning Room 2 had their last Maths session for the year.





Ok, to be fair, there wasn't a lot of specific instruction going on, but there was some tactical thinking and numeracy practice going on in amongst the children's chosen activities.

Speaking of alliteration, we did do some writing - the start of a recount of a favourite time in Room 2.




We'll finish that...next Wednesday morning, before Mass. Might fit in some handwriting then too.

We also squeezed in some new learning before popping into the library after morning tea, adding a "thoughts aloud" component to our freeze frames of scenes from the Magic Faraway Tree.





As for tomorrow, well, it's dress-up-as-your-favourite-character-or-come-in-mufti-so-long-as-you-bring-a-gold-coin-donation-for-Jose day tomorrow.

Does anyone have an old brown sleeveless vest that I could borrow for tomorrow? If so, please bring it along in the morning.

Catty Thursday

Good afternoon,

As well as having our photos taken this morning...


...we kept working on our cat poems.

I'm out of the room again tomorrow for report writing, so Mrs Shae will be in in my stead.

I'm also looking for volunteers for Monday (and Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday...) for changing room duty at Kings Swim School on Main South Road between the hours of...now where's my list...Room 2'll be in the pool at 10:20 and out again 20 minutes later, so...any volunteers from about 10:30ish on?

I'll try and sort out a Google Form for people to fill out, please expect something in your inboxes shortly.

Something Cat Tuesday

Good afternoon,

For the next couple or so weeks Room 2 will be learning to write some poems. We started yesterday buy listing a bunch of adjectives and verbs that we could slot into this cats poem.




And so, in pairs, the children started working on them together.

Descriptive Thursday

Good afternoon,

This morning for writing the focus was adding descriptive language. I gave the children a short sentence...


...and, in pairs, the children were to make it, well, better.










For reading, Ma read a play to us...Shhh! We're watching TV!

We ended the day with 5 minutes of Clone Wars, Series 5, Episode...umm, 7, I think...with the learning intention being that the children would understand that the music tells the story too.

Star Wars Monday

Good evening,

Just in case there was any doubt about the prevailing interest prevalent in Room 2, well...for the last three weeks of this term we have the opportunity to study what ever we like. So, I asked the class what they might like to learn about...




...threw in some democracy, and had a final vote of the top three...


Seeing as this didn't really come as much of a surprise (this was from writing this morning)...


...I had already prepared something for us to use.


And no, I did not influence the vote in anyway!
