Counting On Wednesday

Good afternoon,

This morning we popped outside to determine which was the most common colour of the cars that passed the school on Hoon Hay Road...at between 9:45 and 9:50. To be precise.

Thanks Amber for helping out with the photography!

And thanks Emma for once again helping out with the art this afternoon.

Tomorrow I'm off down south again, so Miss McGarry will be at the con.

See you on Monday,

Mr Grant

More Stats Tuesday

Good afternoon,

This morning, after kicking off with a pleasant Values Assembly, Room 2 got stuck back into their Favourite Colour in Room 2 stats, this time making sensible statistical statements of their colour data graphs.

Speaking of iPads to show demonstrate children's learning, for reading this morning Ma Reading group read a School Journal interview entitled Rodd's Pigeons, and then Poplet'd information from it.

Not bad for a first effort. Not bad at all!

Pacific Monday

Good afternoon,

Today started up with some statistics...

...continued with some fitness...

...some reading...

...and finished up with some Pacific pattern art.

Thanks again Hilaire for the help, it's much appreciated.

Late Post Friday

Good afternoon,

Sorry for the late post, I was over at Thorrington School looking at what they're doing with Google Apps for Education and Hapara Teacher Dashboard. Pretty cool stuff.

Anyway, yesterday morning Room 2 enjoyed one of Ken Nesbit's funny poems.

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant

Count 'em Up Thursday

Good afternoon,

And once again thanks to Emma, Catherine and Hilaire for helping out with the paper bataki this afternoon!

Next step is to scrunch them all up, then flatten them down, three times before applying dye.

This morning, after a bit of prayerful meditation...

...Room 2 were using tally charts to identify which of five colours was Room 2's favourite. So first we had to limit our choice to just five.

Right, next thing was for the children to actually gather the data themselves, so we tried our first ever doughnut.

Which was going swimmingly...until I realised that each half of the doughnut had yet to ask themselves, so...back to the "pile in, ask each other member of your group!"

Results...next week!

Please remember that we're at Mass in the morning. 9:15 start. Full school uniform please.

Cat Stat Wednesday

Good afternoon,

And thanks Angela and Emma for your invaluable help this afternoon, I couldn't have done it without you!

This morning we continued working with the data we created yesterday...

The children were to, well...

...sort the data, make sensible statements about it, and record those statements on Show Me, via the iPads.

Not bad for a first effort. Sorry Justin, Saul and Tara - Show Me didn't have permission to use the mic on Room 1's iPad...which I only found out once you'd gone out to morning tea.

More tomorrow,

Mr Grant
