Noisy Friday

Good afternoon,

It's been a funny old day, with lots of staying-inside. Still, we did manage a little bit of Maori, Handwriting and Poetry.

Oh, and speaking of videos, here is one that I green screened from yesterday.

Then, after Assembly, the children had an opportunity to exercise the Key Competencies of Thinking, Relating to Others, Understanding Symbols and Text, Managing Yourself, and Participating and Contributing.

And a good time was had by all.

Have a good weekend,

Mr Grant

Read to me Thursday

Good evening,

Sorry for the late post, I've just got back from, well, church. Well, end-of-year-production practice actually.

Anyway, this morning, during reading, our lovely Year 7s read their very own picture books to our Room 2 Readers.

And Kahurangi Reading Group shared a perennial favourite, Good or Bad?

Parakaraka read their text as well, but I'd like to do a little green screening to it before sharing it with you all.

Work-and-play Wednesday

Good afternoon,

And a lovely afternoon it is too.

This morning, for the first time, we had two plays performed for us. First Don't Hurt Me! by Kahurangi Reading Group...

...and Ma.

Some lovely vocalisation there!

Oh, and for 100 House Points...

Inside Tuesday

Good afternoon,

Well, it was a little damp this afternoon, so, after Rutherford Team Singing, instead of going out for P.E., we read another chapter of the Magic Faraway Tree (which I'm really enjoying), and the children had a wee few minutes to exercise the Key Compentencies.

(I've taught a very simple set of wargame rules using my Star Wars miniatures - if your target's in the open, you need to roll a 5 or 6, if it's hiding behind something, you need a 6. It's great for a bit of tactical decision making and good old fashion turn taking. And see, girls can play with toy soldiers!)
Earlier in the day, after a bit of big book instruction, identifying blends...
...Ma reading group read a School Journal article about a seeing eye human for a dog...

Have a lovely evening,

Mr Grant

Video Monday

Good afternoon,

Bit of a video feast type of post this afternoon.

First with some poetry...

...then some reading...

(including this...

...which is pretty jolly clever stuff! You only have those letters at the bottom to make as many words as possible.)

...and ending in a bit of R.E. recital. Sort of.

Have a nice evening,

Mr Grant

Water Safety Friday

Good afternoon,

Well, this'll be a heavy picture post today, as I want Google to glue these photos into an animated gif for me, just like it did for my photos from yesterday.

This morning was our last session at the pool.

The children were split into two groups, one learning how to get in and out of a boat, the other how to use what you have at hand to offer assistance to someone in trouble.

Group one getting in...

...and out.

Group two getting in...

...and out.

Then we went down to the berm outside OLV to wait for the bus.

And news on the R2 front - we're finally back in the room, after having the carpets cleaned this morning.

Huzzah!

Have a great weekend,

Mr Grant
