Last [Half] Day Wednesday
Good afternoon,
And good night!
Thank you for a fabulous year, have a blessed break and I'll see you all in the new year.
(And lest you think today was all about slacking off...
...we completed and shared our Favourite Time in Room 2 recounts from last week!)

The Falcon Failing
The sounds behind the Millennium Falcon's failing hyperdrive.
(One of the sounds they used for the Falcon's engine is a DC4 flying (think bigger of a DC3 with two pairs of piston radial engines) past the sound engineer.)

The Gift that Keeps On Giving!
Good evening,
I'm just back from Comics, and Tim has agreed to provide all of these...
Sweet!
Better still, I can get some now...
...some in February (the restocks of the Headhunter, Firespray and Phantom) and April - the Scum and Villiany starter and the M3s.
So this truly is the gift that keeps on giving!!
Thanks once again,
Mr Grant

Fun Day Tuesday
Good afternoon,
And thank you thank you thank you for your most generous gift!
I'm planning to get...
Then we started the day proper. Of which I only got these shots...
...as I was kind of busy. Getting water blasted, for one thing. That reminds me, I must take my soaking clothes home. I hope they haven't blown away in the breeze.
The afternoon was spent with a bit more of The Magic Faraway Tree, and TRUMP time. And a good time was had by all. Especially the water fight!
Thanks again,
And see you one last time...for the year...tomorrow.

Last Day Monday
Well, it was the last day the whole school was together for 2014 anyway...
Good afternoon,
This morning was taken up with a long walk down to Cashmere...
...a long walk back to school...
...and quite a bit of waiting in between. At least we had a fire alarm to keep things lively.
This afternoon the children exercised the Key Competencies in a variety of different ways as they saw fit.
Please be at the Cashmere High School Auditorium at 6 so we can get the children sorted for a 6:30 start this evening.

Final/Dress Up Friday
Good afternoon,
And a lovely afternoon it has turned out to be.
This morning...
...our last Friday morning together, we popped along to Mass, popped back for some poetry, popped back out for a fire drill, then back again to finish the poem.
Which I dutifully video'd, only to delete the file when transferring it to my computer. Opps!
Anyway, have a lovely weekend,
Mr Grant

Last Maths Thursday
Good afternoon,
This morning Room 2 had their last Maths session for the year.
Ok, to be fair, there wasn't a lot of specific instruction going on, but there was some tactical thinking and numeracy practice going on in amongst the children's chosen activities.
Speaking of alliteration, we did do some writing - the start of a recount of a favourite time in Room 2.
We'll finish that...next Wednesday morning, before Mass. Might fit in some handwriting then too.
We also squeezed in some new learning before popping into the library after morning tea, adding a "thoughts aloud" component to our freeze frames of scenes from the Magic Faraway Tree.
As for tomorrow, well, it's dress-up-as-your-favourite-character-or-come-in-mufti-so-long-as-you-bring-a-gold-coin-donation-for-Jose day tomorrow.
Does anyone have an old brown sleeveless vest that I could borrow for tomorrow? If so, please bring it along in the morning.
Thanks,
Mr Grant

Late Post Wednesday
Good morning,
Sorry for the late post.
Yesterday Room 2 learnt to perform freeze framed scenes from The Magic Far Away Tree.
I was really impressed how they were able to pick up the concept, organise themselves and make great snapshots from the book. Today we'll try them again, with the added dimension of "Thoughts Aloud".
In the afternoon Room 3 came over to make Christmas Cards...
...with the very-much-appreciated-help from a few parents and a bunch of Year 5/6s from Room 5.
Thanks Catherine, Jo and Miss Coad!

Hi
Last week Ashton took home an unnamed new jersey that is 77cm Kairanga brand. We have no idea where it came from, if you know anyone who has lost a jersey please come and see me!

Last P.E. Tuesday...
..well, 'till next Tuesday anyway. Might have a game next week, after the Rutherford Team Fun Day/Morning...we'll see.
Anyway,
Good afternoon,
Today we drew some of the characters to populate the lands above the Far Away Tree...
...and played some ball with Room 11.
And a good time was had by all. Mostly.
